Located at the northern tip of the Galilee, Tel Dan is a rather unique site.
On the one hand, there's archaeology dating back 4000 years, with one of the oldest gate structures in the world, from the Canaanite Period. There's a huge Israeli city, after the unified kingdom split, with a sacrificial altar to replace the one in Jerusalem.
On the other hand it's a beautiful, lush, green, with flowing water, and is one of the main tributaries of the Jordan River, which fills the Sea of Galilee, which is one of our main sources of drinking water here in Israel.
A fantastic site for the whole family, for those who love nature, archaeology, and splashing around in the wading pool as well.
