On this tour of Jerusalem, we'll delve into the three main holy sites in the Old City:
- Jewish - The Western Wall
- Muslim - The Temple Mount
- Christian - The Church of the Holy Sepulchre
We'll explore all three holy sites, as thoroughly as possible.
In the Western Wall, we'll talk about the history, the areas importance and significance in Judaism, and why the wall was built in the first place. We'll see both the men's side and women's side of the prayer section (the benefits of a virtual tour!) and talk about why it's like this, and what happens if you want to pray together as a mixed group.
From there, we head up to the Temple Mount. Up here we have both the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock - the place that everyone knows symbolizes the old city of Jerusalem. As a non-Muslim, I was not allowed into either of the buildings, but the area is beautiful, and well worth visiting even without going inside.
And as we progress along our timeline, we finish up at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where Jesus was stripped of his clothing, nailed to the cross, crucified, taken down into his mothers arms, prepared for burial, buried, and resurrected. All in this one place.
